Just a reminder on how important it is to change your oil once in a while.

Note the differences between the virgin oil, and the used sample.

Looks like your TBN# dropped pretty fast, but nothing wrong with the sample. You could probably double the mileage and still be ok.

What filter(s) are you using?

do you really only have 9k miles on your truck? If so you will see your numbers change a bit for awhile. Mine read high on copper for the first 90K but eventually all that could be leached was gone.

Brad; I'm using Strapore filters, and yeah it really only has 9200 on the clock! I have a long commute to work and can't afford to use as a daily driver, I bought a Honda Insight (hybrid) for that.

Blackstone said that after wear-in is complete I should be able to extend run on oil alot longer.

Your Si numbers look pretty high, how good is your air filter?

With my 2001 I normally ran synthetic and changed every 20,000 miles. I didn't do bypass filtration, just Stratapores. My iron numbers were usually in the 30s after 10,000 miles and in the 50s to low 60s at oil change time.

Vaughn; I kept the stock filter and air box out of an abundance of caution to keep the air coming in as clean as possible. I did however install the PSM "cool" air hose, and the 4" Dia. cold air pick-up hose in the bottom of the box.
When I first saw the reports I was very concerned about it, but was advised to check the induction connections, and seals-and continue to monitor. I also noticed that the virgin sample had some Silicon in it to begin with.

My silicon #s were also high while my engine was "young". Blackstone advised was from engine block casting and subsequent oil changes would flush out the residual silicon. They were right. My #s went from 29 on 1st oil change, 8 on 3rd oil change down now to 4 w/ 20,000 on its last oil change. Here is my latest if interested, posted on BITOG. Tom.

Hey Cal; Thanks for your oil report, and the ref. to Bob's. Thats a really great site, I'm thinking about joining. I have many Q's about oil, in fact after my motor is broke-in I'm thinking about converting to RedLine full syn.
I'll bet the members on Bob's could offer alot of good advise on that.
Hey, your just around the corner, lets hook-up with some brewskis on a Sat. and compare notes.
Take care, Michael.

Make sure you take a look at Schaeffer when you're investigating oils. Schaeffer makes a great product. I like their 9000 Series full synthetic.
