Do any of you who are doing scheduled oil sampling on a regular basis have a port rigged to the engine where you can catch a sample under pressure while the engine is running? All our engines in the 'patch are rigged this way-it's a special fitting that you insert a sampling tube into to catch a sample. When you push the tube into the fitting it opens to let oil flow into the sample bottle. Curious to know where I should tap into on my ISB for such a fitting-don't really want to try to catch a sample halfway through the drain!

TIA

Jason, I made a setup to get an oil sample. I got a piece of high pressure hose and put a shutoff valve on one end and attached a length of plastic tube to the outlet of the valve. I remove the plug from the top of the oil filter housing and screw in the high pressure hose. I can then start the engine, open the valve slightly to get a sample. Then disconnect the hose and replace the plug. Only takes a couple of minutes to get a sample, no fuss no mess. All the parts and fittings should cost less than $10, I had all everything laying around except the valve which cost about $3. 00.
