Every time i take a log trip with a trailer, at the end of the trip i notice little oil spots on the tailgate of the truck and on the front of the Box trailer. the bottom of the truck has a coat of oil to, where is it coming from the breather tube? the motor dose not burn oil.

235,000 miles on the motor:confused:

That "may be" from your transfer case.

Specifically the rear output shaft area on the TC.

If You look at your exhaust pipe by the T-case you may seem some burnt fluid on the pipe. Thats the a sign of the Transfer case rear output seal or slip yoke leaking.

I have had this problem since day one on my rig. I have replaced the seal many times but it still seems to work it's way out.

The best fix I found was removing the Driveshaft and filling the slip yoke end with RTV sealant and reinstalling. There is a small hole in the end of that slip yoke that seems to leak fluid. By doing this it greatly reduced the amount of fluid coming out of the T-case.

Good Luck and just remember that you have had a great rust inhibitor spraying the underside of your truck. ;)

In smaller volume, I have had transfer case driveshaft seal leak for last four years. I keep an eye on fluid level and add fluid as needed every few months. Not worth trying to rebuild transfer case or keep replacing seals. The mess is a bit annoying, but I'm used to it now.
