Took a trip from western Washington to Ogden Utah. About 200 miles into the trip, I pulled off, and noticed oil sprayed all over the underside of the truck. At first I thought a rear axle seal had let go, as the spray pattern on the wheel and tire looked very similar to an earlier experience. Had that checked, and no axle seal leaks could be found. So, guess it came from the engine or transmission. Power washed the underside of the truck, and kept driving. Added ¾ quart of oil over the entire trip to Utah (and about ½ quart on the return trip), and transmission fluid was full the entire trip. T-case and Rear axle fluid was good also. Truck didn’t seem to run any worse than usual. No unusual noises (but I don’t have sensitive hearing, especially with all the wind noise around the cab). No unusual drips on the driveway. transmission lines look to be weeping however.

I’m stumped. Any ideas? I don’t even know what to search for in the archives.

Thanks gang!

There was something a while ago about an occurrence like this, and he thought it might have been the air conditioning compressor letting go - maybe they're full of oil and it game up the ghost???
