My 02 QC 4x4 has about 42k on it. Havent been driving it much since last summer. Only about once a week for about a 10 mile trip

Im down a half a quart of oil already since my last oil change about 1000 miles ago. I havent been pulling anything lately, so all of that milage is in the city and on the freeway unloaded.

Am I in trouble here ? There are no drips under the truck and it doesnt smoke.

Thanks for your help

Did you check the oil level after the oil change and after running the engine?

Mine is always down about 1/2 qt after putting in 11qts and changing the filter. I wait for it to use another 1/2 then top it back up.

If you aren't dripping or smoking out the tail pipe then I'd keep an eye on it for another 1000 miles before getting worried.

Any chance you been idling it any? Mine seems to use alot more the few times I've idled overnight. I know it ain't good for it, but when ya gotta ya gotta. I don't seem to use any running MT, but then ain't MT that often. Pullin daily I use alittle oil, some days more than others. Maybe has to do with weight, never really investigated it. I check it daily. . . if it needs oil I add it. Tried Mobile One Syn, reports showed metals rising. Switched to AmsOil, report showed metals rising higher. Dumped and back to Rotella T, will send a sample after 2k. Others were 15K and 7,800. It's a very slight amount per million, but the Rotella didn't show any amount. In Lakewood, CO now, when I get back to Bristol, IN it will have just over the 2k. This sucks, now I find out the service manager where my engine was rebuilt recommended they get a new block. First I've heard of it. And a few other things they did have fallen apart. I don't need this grief.

Cheers,
