Hello everyone... .
I'm trying to find a place that sells reasonably priced (<$100) oil viscosity testing kits. In the military, I used the Viscosity (falling ball comparator) testing kit on all of our diesel engines. Easy to use, and it indicated fuel dilution (to a %) or oil hardening. We compared the used oil against the reference oil, meaning new oil. Both oils had to be at the same temperature in order for the test to be accurate.
I found this expensive gage called the 'VISGAGE', but it's priced at close to $200. I'm looking for something more basic. I've got more time than money.
If you know where to find a suitable oil viscosity comparator kit, please let me know. Got a stand-by generator in our 'barn' that I would like to sample every month, along with a tractor, my truck, cement mixer, etc. Might as well put this tool to use.
Thanks for your help.
