Like Wiredog said 5w40 works so does everything else up to 15w40 works. Synthetic is worth it only if you change the oil at the min at the 7500 miles. Changing oil before that your just wasting money and mind as well use the cheaper stuff. I pulled samples every 3k miles at first not knowing my engine history. Using Valvoline premium blue 15w40, towing 14k regular, maxing my tach against the governor so I can climb hills and still pass cars, 4.10 gears so I cruise 2300-2500 rpm my samples come back perfect. Now Wiredog is where we duck and cover

I ran Amsoil Group IV synthetic in my 05. 15w-40 year round and 12 month oil change intervals with fantastic oil analysis reports. I started with AME and switched to DME towards the end.

I run DME in my 18.

I run 15W-40 Amsoil Heavy-Duty Diesel and Marine, which still has the older high zinc formulation for pre-2007 engines. My last run with this oil was 25K miles over 4 years; the wear metals per mile are equal to or less than the Blackstone Labs "Universal Averages" which themselves have an average of 6,800 miles of use. I'm happy with it.

Yes, it is full synthetic.
