Anyone have a problem with the Oilguard Billet Oil Filler Cap bypass filler return leaking (or seeping) oil when you run your truck hard (i. e. towing)?

I have basically the same thing built from a stock oil filler cap and mine sweeps oil when I run the truck hard. It's doesn't leak/seep running around town, just at sustained highway speeds or towing my trailer.

I'm getting tired of the mess... I've tired replacing the O ring and am careful not to get carried away tightening it down. The Billet cap is a little pricey to try then find I have the same mess.

Thanks!

Hi Jay.

I don't have an answer for you but, I do have another suggestion regarding an answer.

You might try posting your question on "bobistheoilguy.com", on their "bypass filter system forum". There's a lot of information on that website & a lot of knowledgeable people.

I've been interested in the Oilguard System, myself. Other than the leak, have you been happy with your system?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Oilguard billet cap may solve your problem as, I have never heard of anyone having the same problem that you are experiencing. The only thing different between their systems & yours is the billet cap, which, would lead me to believe that is the culprit.

Good Luck, with your problem.

Joe, I've been very satisfied with the Oilguard system. I also had one on my 2001 but didn't have the return through the filler cap. There are a couple of others who have had the same (or simular) issue. I'll check out that other form. Thanks!

Try buying a "Stant" brand PN 1011 aftermarket cap. This is a "one" piece cap, and you can drill hole thru the center to attach your return line too. I have installed several of these, and they work very nicely. I used to modify the stock cap as you have, but found the "Stant" to be a better option.
