I have ordered an Oilguard bypass filter and wanted to get an update from TDR members who have installed their product. How do you like it & what kind of service life do you get out of the filter media? Where is the best place to get quality hoses and fittings to pipe it up? Any other helpful info would be appreciated. By the way, I did not have any trouble getting them to honor the sale prices posted on their web page (www.oilguard.com), but they no longer offered the free shipping.
Additionally, I have a Walker Airsep to install (yes, I know this is an expensive way to get rid of the annoying vapor fumes and mess but I ordered it several months ago when the truck was still brand new and I realize that it may require me to periodically clean the turbo compressor). They supply a replacement oil return tube that inserts into the block (this is NOT the tube that connects to the turbo). This tube has a tee with a fitting to allow return of the drainage from the Walker Airsep. I thought this might be a great way to return oil to the sump from a bypass filter without having to make any permanent modifications to the turck such as tapping into the valve cover. I've asked the people at Walker Engineering to give me a price quote on supplying just the oil tube and if they give it to me I'll post in on the forum. On a previous forum some members expressed concerning about oil backing up to the turbo in the return tube. My "eyeball analysis" leads me to believe that this line is large enough to take quite a bit of additional flow. Do any members think that is is a real concern?
Thanks to all TDR members who contribute here. It is a great forum! I'm just itchin to get my Edge EZ in the mail and get it installed, then I need to install gauges, & ... etc. etc.
