Recently I have experienced the following symptoms: After about 150 miles into the trip I will suddenly get no throttle response on increase. I can back off just fine and usually (not always) accelerate back to the speed I was at previously going. This has started this summer, and I have noticed slightly higher engine temperatures. One shop says the VP-44 is failing, but I wanted more input. Has anyone else seen this?

do a search on TPS . do the unplug your battery thing and reset. It worked for me.

Or the TPS could just be shot. Can you pull any codes off your truck? cycle the key 3 times and look at your odmeter. Post what it says. How much fuel presure do you have?

I had the same dead pedal on my 2001\2500. Taking it in tomorrow for a new VP44. The dealer said cost is $1400. 00. Glad to still be under warranty.

Sounds like VP, but you also said something about elevated engine temp. You truck is the same year as mine and the reason for that is all the oil coming out of the crankcase breather is being sucked back up by the fan and being deposited on the back of the radiator, where dirt and oil are now clogging air flow.

Take your hand and touch the back of the radiator, I'll bet its thick and black. Get some degreaser and a pressure washer.

My truck hit 240* pulling a grade fully loaded. It took me a while to figure that one out..... Good luck... ... Jim

I'll bet you a zillon dollars that you have a plugged radiator!!!

See my very recent POST!

I'll almost guarantee you your rad is plugged... ... . simple to take out - but the window washer bottle is somewhat of a bear - it has a long narrow tab on the bottom that has a "small snap" that if you get on a creeper and look near the intercooler hose you'll see the tab on teh bottom. Take a razor blade and cut the tit off - NOT THE TAB!

Now the bottle itself looks like it will slide right up - BUT there are two dimples about the size of a silver dollar that protrude out into the plastic housing. They act as a keeper and will prevent you from simply sliding the reservoir up. If you have a friend - they can pull and you can place a couple of screwdrivers behind and get it off... . BE PATIENT - This can drive you crazy!

It goes back on in 5 seconds... ...

I took HD Gunk and sprayed the heck out of the radiator and then hosed her off - looks brand new AND IT COMPLETELY CHANGED my heating problem - gone... ...
