Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Ok Big Problem

I was pulling hard on a log today and the clutch started slipping, i didn't notice it doing so right away, not until some major knocking started happening under the hood. I turned the truck off immediately, thenlet it cool some, I started it up still knocked really loud and bad, I said well if it is a problem that will take out the motor it would have already done so, i kept my eye on oil pressure and started limping my way home about 5 miles away, I got about a mile maybe 2 down the road and the knocking stopped, I am at a loss, I let it cool after i got home and started it again, knock was still gone, I am at a loss, I don't want to destroy anything so what do you guys think I have goin on here.

hey kev, i hope it's nothing serious with the motor. i was down in your neck of the woods two weeks ago. in harpers ferry. i put on a few smoke shows for some of the ford boys down there lol :-laf :-laf will you be at the buck on the 29th ?

i hope it isn't serious too, I didn't know about the buck, may try to make it up for that. see if i can find a place to stay, and work from there. New clutch goes in on the 11th, i am just worried, i am thinkin it isn't serious because it hasn't done it since, i would think if it was a rod/valve/piston it would do it continuous, if anyone knows please let me in on the info.

OK the same thing happen to my 2000 6spd at a truck pull last fall got the clutch way to hot and the pressuer plate broke same loud knock by the time Irealized I was to stubbern to let out when the clutch was slipping I just got mad at my self and drove it home about 20miles about 5 miles in to the trip home same deal the knock stoped what hapend to mine was the center of the plate broke their are steal straps that run from the the pressure plate cover to the center when the center broke the staps broke to on one end and let it swing out and eat on the bellhousing till it chewd a hole in it and then broke the rest of the strap look at the bottom of your bell housing for cuts or where the material is poking out that alum is loud when steal hits it I thought the engine was coming apart
