hehehehehe

Called Layne yesterday and placed my order for my black coated Denver Off Road front winch bumper. Mega  !!!

Some trivia: He is just finishing up a series of Ford bumpers, and is getting ready to start on a bunch of Dodge bumpers. He figured it would be ~2 months until I get the bumper.

I was asking about winches. I was thinking to go with the Warn 15K instead of the 12K. Layne told me the only difference is basically they added cooling fins to the motor of the 12K and slightly increased the motor's power. He also said the 12K fits more cleanly in the bumper, the 15K is a little tighter fit. So, 12K it is.

And no, before you ask, I didn't inquire about the final price. Dumb?? Well, maybe..... but, after searching high and low, his is the only bumper I want on my truck, and so it really doesn't matter since I am going to buy one regardless of the cost.

Just had to brag a little :D:D:D

I will post some pictures of the install process and final look when I get it on there.

Congrats!

You won't be disappointed if your experience with them is like mine! The 12k is perfect for that bumper, I have the exact same setup.

Add some sort of off-road lights to your "wish-list" now so that you can take advantage of those tabs on the bumper! :D

Something like, say, aircraft landing lights work great!

Very Jealous Tom!

I saw Brian's DOR last year at a RMTDR get together and it is (in my opinion) the best you can get. keep us posted,

Got mine last month, nothing but grins :D everytime I look at it. Service couldn't have been better and nothing but the highest praise. Wish I would have done this sooner! Steve W.

Bragging rights yes.

Cost is no object?  Gotta love a guy with that attitude.

Does that mean Tom is buying everybody breakfast? Oo.

LOL

Tom,

You will love it:D I am comming up on a year with mine and could not be happier. i went with the 12k winch because it is faster and has a longer cable. It has never even blinked at anything I have thrown at it.

It is a quality set up you will love it.

Check out http://www.clemson4wheel.com/ they usually have the best prices on Warn products by a long shot and free shipping. They only problem I had was an annoyed UPS guy after carrying the winch off his truck. :D

weight??

Whats one of those bad boys weigh all decked out with a winch??. I have a 2" leveling kit, and would want ride height to stay where it is at. Are different springs in order to accomplish this??

138 pounds for each for a total of 276#

I ended up putting 2. 5 inch skyjacker springs in the front but my front end was sagging before the bumper and I do not have the snow plow prep group.

I would think that with a snow plow prep and w/o the extra weight of the six speed adn other BS I have in the cab it would not be an issue.

Ted

BTW the d25 springs have not sagged at all with the winch and bumper

Sky, Layne is one guy not a big company with a bunch of fabricators. He deserves every penny for the bumper he is making they are very high quality and labor intensive. I don't think you will see a Gp on them ever, I don't think he is having trouble selling the bumpers but rather making enough to keep up with orders.

They are worth the cost.

Ted

Because Layne is a one man outfit I think a group purchase may overwhelm his resources. JMHO  ;)

It's one great product you'll be happy you purchased.

PS: Beat me to it ted. ;)

What about mounting a Milemarker hydraulic winch in this bumper?

The other thread talks about the Warn 12K being a tight fit. Will the Milemarker fit or is there two many hoses and valves on it?

Hey jalberring, it'll fit

Layne reports Milemarker winches will fit fine. Several have been mounted that he knows of with no problems.

I installed a DOR (front) bumper over the weekend. Layne told me it would likely be a PITA, but mine worked out fine. Removing the stock bumper was the real pain.

Fit and finish of the DOR unit are excellent. My helpers were lusting over it with good reason. Lots of welding and grinding in there. You'll know why they cost what they do when you see one up close. I wouldn't hold my breath for a group purchase.
