Body Patch Panels???

The Big Day

ok i am trying to get this done and my uncle is breathing fire down my back to get this done :-{} . On the homepage it says i need to do this {{{{To create your site, replace this default page (index.html) in your FTP directory with your own personalized content. }}}} what does this mean. I go under file manager under my stats page and can see all the files i sent there, how do i go along to get my homepage which is saved as file name (sw1) to come up when i type in My websites name.

Thank you

Nick

YAY! thank you... ... . Now 1 more problem I put pics of parts on the home page and on pretty much every other page also..... for a long time the is a little white box in the corner with geometric shapes in it... ... . Why is it doing that..... how can i make the pics come up faster. ?

Thank You

nick

Do the pictures eventually come up? If so, then you might have to look at the file size of the pics. When I built my first site, I would use the html editor to resize the pics, but the pic file size would remain the same. They were something like 500K each for the pictures. HUGE files for small pictures. Took forever to load, especially at 24. 6 dialup.

Either that, or your connection is very slow and unless you upgrade, there isn't a lot you can do about that.

On Edit

Hmmm, believe it or not, Geocities still has one of first websites up.

Pics might take a while to load due to picture file size

Depending on your computer, you should have a program called Photoed. Or any photo editing software should work.

You can just resize the image to whatever size you want them to be and replace the big pictures already on the site with the smaller ones.

This picture's dimension ( 2560x1920) and file size (988000 bytes) are way too large for Internet use. After resizing and re-compressing it, using Adobe Photoshop Elements, the version you see here is now 650x488 and 36000 bytes

There are several photo compression utilities available for free, on the Internet. Do a Google search or look at Tucows or Download.com for something that will work for you.

Tell your uncle to back off, you're learning something and that should make him happy. Stick with it, you are doing a good job.

What program did you use to build your web pages?
