Fuel filter for veggie oil

read this for fun ?

Is home heating oil the same as #2? I Know it's not taxed - I'm just wondering if it's the same... . Please no guesses - does anybody know????

Heating oil is not quite as clean as diesel fuel and it has a dye in it. What the degree of cleanliness may do for the injectors, I don't know.

Home heating oil, not Kerosene is number #2, the only difference between number 2 heating oil and Off road diesel is a different color dye, at least here, where off road is red, Heating oil is a purple color. I would go and ask a local distributor if your still questionable on it just to ease your mind, call them they will tell you. I have run heating oil in my truck with no problems and as far as being dirtier than diesel, if you holding tank has a proper filtering setup that should be no problem.

I asked my fuel guy (both home and truck) that same question. He said he used to have two separate grades, one for home and one for engines. Now he said the heck with the cheap crap for homes. Better "heating oil" burns cleaner. I added enough B100 to my home tank to make abot a B2or3 and it's boatloads cleaner. I no longer get a ring of soot the size of a large doughnut ever 2 days like I used to. I'm assuming that now in MN since all diesel is B2 that home heating stuff will be too.

So in a VERY roundabout way, yes, #2 and home heating oil are the same.
