If you don't mind cutting the hole in your plenum, the Scotty. If you do, the Scotty. (Get the AFE filter element though. )

Hey, I just installed the Afe MEg. Can. , very nice product! Install was straight forward, about a half-hour. Nice finish and a huge filter! Dont forget to buy a "charging" kit(oil for the filter) Mine came dry, where as my buddies,Airraid? brand came pre-oiled in a bag. No biggie, just used the oil for my Harley filter... since it will be a few months before I'll need to replace it... . I hate Ohio in the winter! BTW... I got my filter from a guy on E-bay for 2 bills with the purchase of an EDGE EZ, I think price for just the filter is around 230. 00 from him. He will sell straight out,you dont have to do the auction thing. He sent me tracking #s and had quick shipping. Not affilliated, just satisfied.

I really like my AFe

Very good air flow and TOP quality - should last a lifetime. Looks very nice when you pop the hood to show people the power plant.

Not to get things started, but I remember reading in previous threads that some people did not like the Scotty in the winter time because the suction caused back pressure in the cab of the truck and it was annoying - had to keep a window cracked a bit. This due to having to cut into the firewall.

Like I said, not trying to get a *&^sing fight going, this is just what I remember reading. May not be the case for everyone.

Just cause I like my AFe doesn't mean it's necessarily the best or the only good filter available.

Good luck with your decision.

No fights :D , but the only way this could happen is if the snow on the vents wasn't brushed off before driving the truck. I live in the Frozen Wastelands, and I always have to brush my vents off, otherwise the heater never works properly.

After seeing both systems being tested I would say that the scotty 2 would be the way to go for max airflow/performance/temp drop. Either way you will get a big improvement.

I went from a K&N to the mega cannon. I got mega results! Love the turbo sound. I did not have to cut or modify anything. The only thing I did not like was the price, $295. The scotty sounds good too so you make the choice.

In Ogden Utah

These are the folks in Ogden Utah that I was referring to earlier. Same place I got mine.

These guys were the CHEAPEST I could find ANYWHERE. Quick shipping too.

Banks exhaust

C'D amato, its not as loud as you think from the drivers seat. . It bellows more at cruise and I have been told that when your along side me it sounds like a big rig on aceleration. The combination use of the mega cannon and the exhaust system made a big difference on power without problems at a NYS inspection station. The stock equipment was suffocating the poor thing. If you want to hear it some time drop a line in my private mail box this site. Were you the guy I met at the Costal station one morn??

I don't remember being at a Coastal Station. Im just torn between which exhaust to go with ie. Stacks, Jardine, Banks, Rip Rook etc. Have to keep researching. I really wanna do the stacks. On a good note I ordered my Mega Cannon yesterday for 172. 50 from Davis Distributing. I had to order the Pre Filter from Piers BUT the mega cannon 172. 50 and the pre filter 40. 00 equaled what every one else was charging for just the AF Setup! Not a bad deal.

I haqve never had any problems with my Scotty 2 and the cab in the winter. The Scotty 2 gives the Coolest air you can get to our mighty Cummins!!!! On heavy towing and bombed vehicles the Scotty 2 is the only way to go if you want to use all that power!!!!!

Here is a link to some testing I did this summer.

It has never made much sense to me to such hot air and then try to cool it after the turbo with the intercooler.
