... but the answer escapes me right now!! how do i make IE explorer remember my user name and password so i don't have to log in every time i visit the board? this is my home computer with only me and my wife using it, so security is not a problem.

In Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

Click the Privacy tab, slide the bar up to at most medium then click apply.

I'm not sure what I did, but I added the page to favorites after I had logged in and it keeps me from having to log in each time.
