when I installed my MBRP muffler the other day, I got a little carried away with the sawzall and cut the pipe that goes between the muffler and the cat way too close to the hangers. Now, I don't have enough pipe to make a proper seal.

my local midas can't get 4" stainless.

Has anyone changed out their exhaust and now have the stock pipe that I could buy?

Note that this is a 2005, so it's a 4 inch pipe.

to be clear: this is the stock pipe that goes between the catalytic converter and the stock muffler.

thanks in advance.

Call anone who sells stainless exhaust systems, they should be able to get you a 2 or 3 foot long piece. That would be the difference between a shortbed and a longbed system. Hope this helps.

How's 'bout a CAT delete pipe? I would think that would do the trick. I think the guy's name is Mark Craig, that's his username here I think. He should be able to set you up.

I have The Pipe if you want it let me know.

I got a 4" X 23" stainless steel pipe Ive been trying to get rid of for months, you can have it. We just need to figure out how were going to get it to you. PM me well figure something out.

Thanks TWest for hooking me up! Great talking with you.

Red Rider, I truly appreciate the offer, as it turns out, that 23" piece of pipe would have been a little under an inch too short! Thanks again for the offer though.

eh, tape measure? what's that? I wasn't thinking when I cut. It was hot, I was in a hurry (sure receipe for disaster), and I didn't want to mess with trying to pry the pipes apart. Live and learn.

I think the CAT delete pipe would do just that, replace the cat. and I would still need that intermediate pipe. thanks for the suggestion though.

Cut more

What you think about cuttin away more of the pipe? The taking it to a good muffler or weld shop and having them reweld the hanger and putting a good piece of pipe in rather in a real small peice. I would go ahead and take care of the CAT. Just askin, are youi sure its a CAT or is it a resinator? Don't need one of those any way. But back to the subject, Hangers ant no problem or they haven't been for the muffler shops I been to. But I personaly would go ahead and take the CAT or resinator off. Even if it was a CAT and it had to go back on, take it to the shop, cut it off and reweld it and the pipe back on. Whats the problem with that?

TWest is sending me a replacement pipe, so the problem is solved anyway. But the local Midas could not get stainless 4" pipes and therefore could not do the work. Before looking around for a muffler shop that could, I figured I would ask around to see if anyone here could help. And it paid off. Todd gave a really good deal, less than what I would have paid at a muffler shop for any kind of work.

PS: and yes, it is a catalytic converter. The late model Dodge Cummins diesels all come with them.
