I missed out on the group purchase, but am very interested in the results of all who bought them.

Let's hear what you have seen with your new toy.

I put my TAG in today. Noticed right off just going thru town idled smoother. Got on the freeway turbo spooled up quicker, & hit 36 lbs of boost. I could only get 34lbs of boost before the tag was in.

Someone told me once that every pound of boost equaled about 10hp. I've never dyno my truck but if that is correct I was at around 340hp before &360hp after. I find it a little difficult to beleave I picked up 20 ponies with such a simple mod.

Well I bought it to see what it will do while towing. If I am picking up that much more ponnies in real world I'm stoked. Weekend after this we are going over to the coast & we will see if it lowers the egt's anymore, keeps the Scotty II quieter, & helps on the hills & mileage.

I will report back on the 15th or 16th of March of my results.

That was true with the older diesels. Now, with computer controls, technology advances, etc. that is bocoming a thing of the past. They have been creating more power with less boost.

I put my TAG in about 4 months ago and think it's a great mod for the price. The differences were subtle to me. Spool up was better, dropped maybe 1 pound of boost at cruise, 200 or so less EGT's, and gained about 1mpg. It seems that the PSD's have a little bit more noticible differences but still work well on the CTD's.

Keep an eye on Daves website. He is experimenting with a TAG II that is two tags stacked. He already has some info on it.

Thanks for the post. I read about the TAG II and it seems like a great product too.

I have a question for you and others, do you run with or without the silencer ring? It seems on the article that about the TAG II that they put in a type of ring to help the flow. Anyway was just wondering.

Thanks,

Lowell

According to the installation instructions, the TAG is designed to run with the silencer ring.

I just installed my TAG last Saturday and have only had an opportunity to drive the truck around town. I immediately noticed that the turbo whine/whistle was gone - I honestly can't even hear it any more. That may be a big disadvantage for some people, but for a towing rig that spends 10-12 hours at a stretch on the Interstate, anything that reduces noise is a bonus. Spoolup seems quicker as well.

I bought the TAG primarily for its apparent benefits in towing applications. I'll reserve final judgement until we hitch up the 5th wheel, hit the road and get some hard numbers as well as subjective results regarding turbo aerodynamic instability at high flow conditions (the infamous "whoomp whoomp" at full throttle in 6th gear going up a 6-7% grade).

TAG and towing

I'll be hauling my TT back to Idaho from Texas. This should be a good test of the TAG which was installed a few weeks ago.

I really didn't notice any difference when I put the TAG in. What's going to mess up this test is that I just installed an after market air filter (AFE). This did make a noticeable difference but mostly in the noise level. My wife doesn't like it... . so obviously. . I did.

Anyway, we'll see if this combination shows any improvement in power or fuel economy towing a 10,000 lb TT.
