With all this news of the recall... where in the hoot are my freeze plugs? Are they difficult to see? Access? I might like to get underneath and take a look at them... my dealer said my truck was fine with the amount of miles it had on it... but would be nice to see where they are and what they look like ( Seepage etc)

Freeze plugs are large round holes in the casting used to get the sand out in the casting process. You'll find 4 or 5 on each side of the block about half way between the oil pan and the head. They're about 2 1/4" dia on a B series. Can you elaborate on why you feel the need to look at them?

My dealer said that next time I took my truck in for service he would take a quick glance at the freeze plugs and make sure they weren't seeping. He didn't see any reason to have my truck pressure tested. I just thought I could possibly monitor them myself for leaks in the meantime. . thats the only reason!

He's probably talking about the threaded plugs up on top of the motor by the exhaust manifold. They have allen heads and I believe they have a red thread sealant on them from the factory. I know a couple of guys who have had those plugs resealed because they were seeping coolant out of them. If you're not seeing any white residue by them then you're probably okay.

Mine were all loose and leaking. I just tightened them up. Later I should clean up all the mess made by the sealant they used oozing out around the plugs.
