New Shelby GT 500's

1996 Chev Lumina [car, not van] question

was helping my brother in law change the alternator on one of his big trucks last night ...

told him that i needed a few loads of gravel ...

he looked at my truck and said "if you can get 500 horse out of that little thing then why can't i get 550 horse out of this :-laf

he told me he'd only charge me for the gravel and not for the travel if i could help him figure a a combo for 550hp out of the motor in the title ...

he's owns his own dozer/hauling company and has worked on big trucks since he was a little kid but has never bombed a truck ...

i've bombed "little" cummins' since my first one in '91 but neither of us has any idea how to do the big ones ...

any help would be appreciated ... i'm way to cheap to pay for hauling gravel if i can get out of it:D

we discussed getting the injectors honed ... bigger cam ... cranking up the fuel ... bigger turbo ... pyro ... etc

Give Bill at Ashland Diesel a call he had has done some pretty crazy stuff. I think the coolest one i seen was a 1000hp race/show truck.

He should be able to help.

Just put A pair of vice-grips on the fuel return line, but Stand back when you start it! We wouldn't want anyone to get hurt!:-laf

Have you ever heard a 14 liter engine float the valves? Pretty Cool stuff, assuming you are a safe distance away.

you should also let your buddy know there is a differance between our trucks that can make 550hp for 15 or 20 seconds compared to his which may have to do it for much longer. remember some of them old engines had all aluminum pistons too. a good pyro would be the first step

Also if you do deside to call bill at ashland diesel make sure you have a serial number and cpl

you do know about the rail presure screw in the throttle shaft right?

its not really the right way but the screw in the throttle shaft is free power!

its kinda like sliding the plate in the 2nd gen trucks it might not be "right" but it works

there is a bearing cover the hole in the throttle shaft( or there should be) drill it out or knock it out. only turn the screw a little at a time( back the screw out) it may make a big differance it may not. . depends on the health of the engine and pump.

also one last thing... blocking off the return does work but on rare occasions it has broken the pump shaft. just dont forget the pyro
