OK... i found a 95' 4x2 standard cab,AUTO,bone stock with 185,000 miles for $10,000... ... body is alittle ruff, but runs ok... however it idles pretty ruff than what i'm used to in my 93... idle [when warm} is at around 850 or 900... does anyone know why it idles ruff like this... . again any feed back on if i should buy it,and what problems i should look for. Is 184,000 miles too much for the price?

Go over to Edmunds or Kellys Blue Book, put in the #'s and you'll see exactly what you should be paying for it.

Hey Gregg, just for referance, I just purchased a 1995 ext cab 2x4 auto with 89,000 miles for 12,950. 00 drive out. This was from a dealer who took it in trade for a new one. Owner sold it because it was out of warranty. I was able to talk to him and he said that he just pulled his boat back and forth to the coast with it (a small 20 ft. ). He also pulled a fifth wheel 3 times, all local (within the state). Changed oil regularly but always at the local jiffy lube place, not the best but at least regular.

Don't know the used truck sale climate in your area but that seems a little steep. I had to look forever to find this one, and was lucky enough for the fuel return line to start leaking about a week after I got it    . It was easy to fix and now all is well.

On the other hand if it fits your needs, make them an offer. They can only say no. And remember, It is easier to beg for forgiveness, than to ask for permission :D    .

Good Luck with your choice!!!!!!!!

I agree that the price is a little steep, especially considering the mileage.

As far as the rough idle, my first guess is that it is related to fuel pressure. Perhaps a clogged fuel filter or a bad overflow valve.

Patience is mans most important virtue. :)

This is Wayne in El Dorado. You saw what I bought for $14000. I looked for several months.

Personally, I think too much is put emphasis is put on mileage. We can all get a low mileage truck for $30000 to $40000. ;)

Consider what it will cost you to put the vehicle in the condition you want. Add that to the cost. Compare the total to what a truck in better condition would cost.

NEW TRUCK

YEAH!:D well... i'm the proud new owner of a 1995 CTD folks!. . as soon as i got it, took it to my buddy Bryan's house and popped the silencer ring out and air -restrictor... whew. . turbo scream!--anyway. . answer me this. . on the freeway... the auto {in overdrive} makes spuratic shifts and downshifts, maybe an overdrive unit bad?

You can test the voltage first. But even if the voltage test fine, it may still spike and drop while driving causing the odd reacting transmission.

I'm not sure of the exact cost, but if I remember correctly it's around $130, and Cummins has it cheaper than Dodge.

Try cleaning the TPS with aerosol electronic cleaner before you replace it. Just direct the spray at the shaft while moving the throttle back and forth. Most of the time this will fix it. Continue cleaning at every oil change for no more problems. Stock TPS for me at 160k, though I had the hunting problem in OD early on.

Congrats on your new-to-you RAM. :)

Sorry to hear about the trans. :( I am too ignorant on the subject to be of help.

I am considering taking my RAM to DTT after the first of the year. Gonna dig up all the cans in the backyard and cash in all my bottles. :D I plan to come back with a new transmission and no less than three hundred horses. Will be traveling back lighter, about $4000.

Save your cans and bottles, we can caravan.
