How much do you drink?

I have seen people use 55 gallon drums/barrels and fab them up. I have seen them the size you are talking about by using two of them end to end. Have no idea on what is involved in doing it though.

RE: Smoker

I have seen a 250 gal oval fuel tank made up ffor a smoker--cooker and I thought that was the cats MEOW. Just a thought. If you are after just a smoker an old refrig. works as good as anything.

We talked about doing this a few years back. We were looking to build a tow behind and either Wheaties or TqT I believe had come up with a few sites with nothing but plans or Shopping lists to build one and man some of them were sick!!

Earlier this year I purchased a cooker/smoker from a local welding shop. The grill area is just under 6 ft x 2 ft. It will hold about 45 - 50 lbs of chicken at the time. The shop makes them out of propane tanks. Best cooker I've ever used. It also has a rod, running the length of the smoker, for hanging homemade sausage, and smoking. I fixed chicken for 100 about 3 weeks ago and had 9 requests to cater parties. This cooker only cost $650. Look around at local welding shops. The companies on the internet are too expensive. BTW: I'm guessing the grill deck will last 10 years, and the housing forever.

Go ahead and build a good one!

I'm cooking for 450 people in July and about 2,000 in August!

We have one that is made out of a tank. Its 12feet long and prolly 5' indiameter. Its heavy. It has trays on it for beans, and all kinds of stuff. the smoker is at the back.

We also have a few built out of 36" pipe. they work good for bar-b-q grills, and just get an old barbq for the burner.

In the big smoker, we can use propane, wood or charcoal. the propane burners are home-made, and have orfices in them.

Let me find some pics... ... ...
