OK - what LENGTH sigs?

Since it's pretty well established that most here DO like sigs, and consider the info in them to be of value as long as SOME length limit is in place, what should that limit be?

speaking of sigs.....

I think a limit should be placed on them of about 400 charactors. This is my thoughts, and some people need more lines to list sponcers. BS! Look at Jim Fullers(Cummntnstrkin) sig, it's about half a line, and it has his sponcers, cool. Just don't put up a bill-board giveing them a free commerical. That looks tacky IMO.

Howabout a truck profile, and a seperate truck and post sig. ?? Oh wait,, they've al ready done that,, Good think I don't have to put all my truck profile in my sig.

I actually counted the letters in my sig and mine really wasn't that long at all compared to most and has no sponorship info as there is none for me. 200 characters is really pretty short I think 3-400 would be much better. I had to cut out about 100 to make mine fit so that it didn't just cut off when it reached 200. I personally like the sigs but I am not the one trying to keep the server running.

The limit is currently set to 300 characters. Which btw, is approximately 4 lines on an 800x600 resolution screen or 6 lines on a 640x480 screen running windows with normal sized fonts. The number of lines is NOT a practical way of limiting signatures because depending on what brower, os, resolution, and font a person is using more or less characters fit on a line. The limit was originally set at 200 characters and based on input was increased by 50% to 300 characters. 2 of the four choices on your poll would actually limit signature lines to smaller than currently allowed.
