Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Ok?

When I was truck shopping I saw a lot of engine pictures with an "ok" scribbled on the front valve cover. Some were marked with different letters. Some weren't marked at all. Anybody know what this is about?

Years ago when I was working at a dealership, we marked an OK underhood somewhere visible to show the anti freeze was just that- OK. Don.

Sounds reasonable. I was expecting something along those lines. Just didn't know what it would be referencing. Only seem to see it on 12v though.
