I need some feedback from you on the Gv overdirves. I've checked the forums and not alot of info. Anyone with a first gen with a GV overdrive unit??? I just changed jobs and will be driving interstate to work and tohught I'd like to cruise to work at low rpm's and try to get better mileage. I'll be driving 45 minutes each way, so I tohught the unit would pay for itself in a while and it should be a cool tow to have while towing.

I instaled a GV in a 6 cylinder diesal and it went out two times. If you can call GV and speek to the owner. He sead that a high HP 6 diesel motor will tear up a GV. It is not ment to take the high thump that a 6 with high HP puts out. Said they will stand a 1000 HP v8 but a 6 that puts out power will give problems. Phone for GV in souther Cal. is

34 lb wot, no trailer. 308 gears. 5 speed. need more powwer. powwwer. powwwer.
 
I have a friend who has a GV OD in his 96 5 speed with a 4. 10. He pulls max gvw. He has a 44 pace bigfoot. All loaded he is 25,500. He has had no problems and his has the cam plate adjustments. He can certainly run with the Strokes.

WELL, *I* have the US Gear OD and 3. 07 differential - mine IS an OD, not UD, and with your 3. 54's, I would SURE want OD instead of UD! The OD will give LOTS less engine rpm at freeway speeds, but still deliver nice splits between gears... #ad
