I was told that there is a big difference between the old pacbrake that I own and the stoping power of the PXRB pacbrake. Has anyone here ever changed over or?

Thinking about doing it as I might be camping more up in there hills of Az.

Any info will be helpful.

Thanks for any help in

advance.

There is a difference in low RPM retarding with the older style orifice brake v/s the PRXB, higher RPM is about the same. I have two of the older styles with the light weight valve springs and there is a BIG difference with my '01 and the BD-Brake, it holds back at low RPM like the PRXB. In all fairness, if I changed out the valve springs to the 60# they would work better.

A couple of weeks ago, I hauled a load of hay out of the mountains of Utah (25,000 gcw) and on a 4. 5 mile 8% grade I only used the foot brakes 4 times using 3rd gear.

NIsaacs has it right... .

We sold pacbrake for years before I retired and closed the shop... when the PXRB came out we moved all our existing trucks from the old style to the new PXRB design... .

We noticed slightly better performance at the higher rpms because the new design seems to seal better...

We noticed that our trucks pulling higher weight trailers, in some cased up to 22K lbs did better with the pxrb design. .

Hope this helps...
