Old signed baseball value

My father has a baseball from the late '40s that was signed by most of the Red Sox players at the time including Ted Williams, does anyone have any idea where I could get a accurate idea of it's value? He took it to one place and they estimated it's value around $300, seemed pretty low to me, but I have no idea. I can get a list of everyone who signed the ball if that would help.

I talked to my buddy who is a baseball collector. He said this price sounds about right. He said balls signed by single players or the whole team would be worth more. The key word he read on your post was "most of the red sox players"



Now he also said he is no expert, but $300 sounds about right, unless you find the right person then it might go up to around $500.



He recommends getting it appraised, but to have value you need a buyer. Depending on how much the buyer wants the ball the value goes up or down.

What condition is the ball in? $300 is about right. I have a ball signed by "some" of the dodgers, namely Don Drysdale and Sandy Koufax. It's probably not worth much more than $300, it's pretty tattered though. We used to play ball with it when I was a kid.



This was ofcourse before the stupid obsession with everythings' value. Back when baseball was fun, not something to profit from. That being said I have a ton of cards in a box somewhere. I quit collecting during the mass production phase of the 90's. Talk about flooding the market!

Thanks for the replies, the ball is in good legable condition my dad said it was never played with or anything just sat in a box for the last 55 years, I found out the ball was signed by the 1950 team roster, my dad checked the ball and these are the signatures on it.

Joe McCathy, the manager, and Ted Williams are on one face together. Then sort of around the ball are other team members; namely, Walter Dropo, Steve Oneill, Earl Johnson, Charlie Schanz, Marty Mastard,Al Zarilla, Bob Doerr;

Vern Stephens, Allen Kinder, Clyde Vollmer,Birdie tibbitts, Johnny Pesky, Maurice McDermott, Bill Goodman, Buddy Lamar, Mel Parnell, and Al Papin
