Finally Did It!

Thanks, Hoot. That's a great collection of old beer truck photos. Interestingly, I saw many brands I recognized, several I didn't but could guess two or three possible brand names. I only saw two trucks I know were Furds. A Balboa beer and a Blatz. Many were MOPARs, a couple of Studebakers, Internationals, and more exotic brands like Reo, Autocar, and ????

Whites as well.

Nice collection of photos. Thank you for sharing!

My father remembers that Old Shay truck from Jeanette PA running around in the 40's.

I was hoping to see a Narragansett truck. They were a major employer in Cranston RI when I was a boy. I'll never forget " Hi neighbor, have a Gansett"

Great pics!

There's one in there in front of The Poodle Dog. Still in business in Fife, WA.

Another truck is delivering to a store on Tacoma Ave in Tacoma, WA. Business is gone but the building is still there.

One thing is for sure- back in those days, you had to be a real man to drive those trucks.

Could you imagine some little guy like David Spade being the delivery dude? Not hardly. Wrestling the kegs and cases around, driving w/o p/s & p/b, AND having to be badass-looking enough to discourage beer thieves.

So I forwarded these images to my older brother. While I focused more on the trucks, he was looking at the context and something stuck out to him.

One of the photos had the name of the town we all grew up. The building in one particular image is one he perhaps remembers, but it was long gone when I was stomping around. The business he thinks is/ was a soda and beer bottler back in the. I remember when they used to make soda there, but do not recall the beer side of it.

The business is still there today, but only as a retail liquor store.
