If I were to install the older VA Box without the Boost fooler, with the boost elbow wont I throw an over boost code? Looking to buy a used box but I'm concerned about the older style boxes because without the boost fooler I may throw a code, and later if I add injectors I would think I would surely throw a code without at least buying a "Practical Solutions" boost fooler at a price of $149-

What do you think? Seems like I would be better off buying a EZ or DDTTPM with the boost fooler built in... . Am I right?

If you use a boost elbow to get more than 20 psi you will throw a code. I have an older VA but don't use an elbow and haven't had any problems.

Fuel and Boost education please!

If the boost fooler isn't necessary then why do the newer boxes have them. I thought when the box increases fueling & timing that you need more air. More fuel without more air, creates increased heat?

Added air (boost) creates nothing without added fuel..... Please, educate me. I'm confused.

Dan mine's even older than that LOL

It has the Ribbed metalic case with mounting feet.

I'll betcha I can get millions for it. Supposedly the older VA's Like mine and the one pictured have more aggressive timing.

The old orig VA's work good. I have a buddy with the blue metallic ribbed case. He loves it, it works even better with RV275 injectors. He also has a boost fooler.

Watch the classifieds, see boost foolers in there once and a while for 30-50 bucks.

VA Box

I used a VA box for 1 yrs. without a boost fooler and it worked very well and when I had to have the lift pump replaced on warranty there wasn't any over-boost codes stored. Later I put on a boost fooler and then added 275 injectors, it now runs 32-35 lbs. of boost and still haven't stored any boost codes yet.

Thanks for all the replies. I found a used EZ from a former TDR member for $250-

DD II's are next on the list... . Hopefully by Spring Camping Season!
