on my wife's 03 we were playing with the dashlighs and codes and found she has a P0700 code . we looked it up and it said it was a "Transmission Control System (mil request)". does anybody know what that is?
Powertrain diagnostics manual says this is "Transmission related DTC in JTEC". JTEC is "Jeep/Truck Engine Controller". It's basically the PCM telling you that the transmission control module detected a fault and is holding a code. There is no way for you to read what the actual fault is; a DRBIII must be connected so that the transmission module can be interogated. Your only choice is to take it to a dealer.
Whomever provided you with the description you posted is not quite right. That description is for the NGC (Next Generation Controller) system, which is only on 4. 7L and 5. 7L gas engines.
i found the description on a search (codes) and i found one that listed a bunch of codes. thats were i got that info on the P0700 code. thought it was right. guess not
The dealer told me that they are not going by the codes anymore. But the code did go away. Might have just been a miss shift somewhere along the line. The dealer wanted to charge a fee just to look at it. I decided to wait and see what happens. So to answer your question we never found anything out and the code is gone now.
