Finally got a digital camera...

The power comes from the trailer connector and I can remove the whole assembly when hauling gravel or to take it to another truck

Hey Tony!

The convertable is dry docked while I install a dual well master cylinder and rebuilt vacuum booster. Just got the final plumbing pieces today, so the big C body should be on the road again within a week. Pretty soon it'll be ready for a over the hill run and I'll have to show up at one of your C body get togethers. Check out the pictures on the C body drydock website...

SRadke,

I thought the trailer circuit was a 40 amp???? I better double check, it works fine, but does not run as fast as a direct battery connection. The compressor is a 1/2 HP 18 amp draw 100% duty cycle

It may be 40 amp, I was kinda guessing on that based on my old one. Even so I'm not sure the wire they have run will handle 40 amps at a 100% duty cycle. It seems slightly smaller than 10 ga. I guess at 18 amp draw none of this matters. Nice compressor.

Questions

Mark,

Nice looking install. A couple of questions though. What did you do with your overflow bottle? Do you have a template for the compressor mounting plate? Is that a small turnbuckle for taking up the slack in the belt. I can't quite make it out from the pic. It actually turned out to be three questions. Thanks for the post.

Regards, John

John,

I moved the coolent overflow bottle about six inches, and placed it next to the radiator. Probably not the best place to have it, but it fit in there snugly, and sems to work just fine.

I have been asked by a couple other members for drawings of the mounting plates. I will try to take some more detailed pictures and draw up the mounting plate and post it somewhere.

Yes, that is a 1/4 inch turn buckle (rated at 90 lbs of working load)

used to adjust the belt tension. I did not want to have to fight with holding tension on the elt while I tightened the mounting bolts, so I devised this pivot and turnbuckle setup. It seems to work pretty well so far. Currently, it just has a stock hole in the alternator bracked, but I think I will weld on a small piece of quarter inch steel to the backside and tap all the way through for added strength.

The system has been on the truck for about a month now, and in which time I have put about 3000 miles on the truck, and ran the compressor a tota of about an hour. It ir really nice to have impact gun capability at the flip of a switch.

Dane, I know you spend time in Baja so I am guessing airing up was a prime mover to build the system. I seem to remember you have a slide in and was wondering if that will fit between the camper and bed wall?
