Is it possible to add a on/off switch to the torque convertor to control lock-up, but when in the off position, the computer still has full control?

What are the benefits of doing this?

How do you do this?

Thanks!

Check out tst products web page. MY buddy found something on there. You have to take the trans relay out and run a jumper. Then run a toggle switch to a wire that comes out to the trans module. Worked really good. Could lock the converter anytime he wanted. Or left the switch off and truck shifted normal. Just don't forget to unlock when you come to a stop! Lee.

If you don't wire around the brake switch, even if you force it to lock it'll unlock when you come to a stop.

On there web site on the left hand side there is a heading MORE INFO. Click on installation instructions. Then click on "Torque converter lock up switch for 94-02 dodge ram. " I know my buddy did this on his 03 and it works great. He is very happy to be able to lock up the converter when ever he wants. Definately improves 0-60 mph. He ran a 15. 44 with this lock up switch and an edge ez. I feel he could have done better if he got the right lock up timing. Lee.

I would check that out with a good trans tech first. The 48RE's have a bit different electronics than the 47's and its possible to put the truck into limp mode if you modify things too much. In addition it may cause the Tow/Haul function, if you have it, to do something that would destroy the trans.

I would call tst and verify. My buddy has an earlier 03 so no tow/haul. Seems to work good with his. I will double check with him, but I think he called tst and they said it was ok. Just the relays may lay differently in the power module. I will post back with his confirmation. Lee.
