My passenger side headlight is dim and the drivers side light is bright, the same results when I switch to brights ???

I am expecting this to be a ground problem ? Anybody know more on this issue?

cheers, Kevin

Kevin, When you have a poor or no ground, Both headlamp filaments run in series and that is why they are dim. On the positive side though, It probably will never burn out saving you a few bucks:-laf . Chris

Kevin...

Your '01 is ground switched... the lamps have 12v running to each one through there own fuse on the "A" connector, the "B" connector is "Low Beam" ground, the "C" connector is "High Beam" ground. The grounds run Parallel meaning shared between both lamps thus having a "bad ground" will effect both lamps unless it is at the connector itself, or one of the wires after the split has worn insulation and starting to corrode.

Is the lamp dim in High, Low and Flash??

I would check the connector/clean and put some di-electric compound on it... also check the voltage going to the connector on each lamp (A connector)...

Put an ohm meter on the battery ground and check the resistance of the B connector on low, and C connector on high...

... Make sure you don't hit the A connector when doing this check ohm meters don't like applied power... .

I am an IDIOT

 :{

It was the fuse!!!

Just like Jerryrig says they are seperate power feeds and the ground complets the loop to the switch. With a blown fuse dont ask me how it was getting half power but it was.

I was under the truck drilling a 4" hole for my ramair last week and I nicked a wire so I thought that was the culprit, I patched her up good but still had a yellow light  sure enough it was the fuse.
