I bought the DiPricol gauges and am getting ready to drill and tap the exhaust manifold.

I measured the length of the EGT probe and it sticks out 1" beyond the bottom the 1/8NPT adapter.

I plan on installing the probe on the main log of the exhaust manifold just after cylinder 3. The probe will be pointed straight up.

Is the manifold log deep enough for a 1" long probe or will it bottom out?

This is probably a dumb question, but I am getting ready to drill and am still "pinched up".

Thanks,

Louis

I believe you can adjust how much probe gets stuck into the manifold, at least it was like that on mine. They recommend at least 1/8'' from the bottom of the manifold.

I don't think mine is adjustable??

The probe slides in/out of the pipe thread fitting and it has a flange that butts up againsts the top of the pipe thread fitting, then you tighten the jamb nut.

When everything is tight, the probe sticks out beyond the pipe thread fitting 1". When I look at my manifold, it doesn't appear to be 1" dia inside so I'm worried that the probe will bottom out.

This is a Diprocol gauge and sensor.

Pipe threads are tapered. You can get a small amount of ajustment by NOT bottoming out the tap just running it in far enough to get it to screw in. I drill and tap for 1/4 ntp and then use a 1/4 to 1/8 bushing to get my probe more center of the manifold.

If you get the DiPricol gauges, make sure you consider getting the D192 116 EGT probe and not the standard D192 100 EGT probe.

The standard probe is 61mm long which is too long for the exhaust manifold diameter. And its not adjustable. Its made for 2 to 3" ID manifolds/turbo inlets.

The optional probe is 20mm long (p/n D192 116) and is made specifically for small diameter exhaust manifolds.

Other option is to purchase a 1/8NPT male to 1/8NPT female adapter and then install the 1/8NPT male and probe into that. However, I can only find hardened brass locally and not SS. Not sure if it matters.

I'm posting this for others who may consider the Dipricol gauges.

Thanks,

Louis

Just wanted to post these pics of the D192 100 (medium probe) and D192 116 (short probe) for anyone considering the Dipricol EGT gauge.

I plan on installing the probe in the exhaust manifold near cyl #3 and was worried that the std probe was too long and might bottom out in the manifold.

The Dipricol probes are not adjustable for length.

Now I just need to get the courage and drill and tap the manifold :-laf

Hope this helps anyone considering this upgrade.

Regards,

Louis
