We've been reviewing the posts regarding TSB 18-037-04 and haven't been able to figure this one out. My friend has a 04. 5 2500 with the 325/600 engine # 57123257 with a MFG date of 11-20-03.

According to the TSB, this engine is outside the serial number and MFG date range (by being 7028 engines and 20 manufacturing days earlier than the TSB says).

Does his ECM have an "older" program? Were the ranges listed in TSB changed from what his was set up with? The truck has he 48re and is getting low 14's mileage on the overhead display.

What gives?

Thanks,

Mark

Does anyone have any ideas on this one? It seems that if my friends engine was produced prior to the ones needing the update, this one should need some type of re-flash / update also, or are we missing something?

Anyone????

Thanks,

Mark

Im just speculating, but as of Jan 1st these trucks had to meet new emmision standards to be sold in some states. There was probably a new program for engines begining on the tsb date.

If he finds a cooperative dealer they can download the stock program into the dealer connect computer and check for any new programs

Make sure that it is in fact a 600 and not a 555. It seems awful close to being the old engine with that build date. Just a thought.

According to the window sticker, engine data plate and the obvious features it is a 600. Just the serial number and build date does not fall within the TSB window... ... ?????
