Anyone running a one piece driveshaft? I am so sick of replacing carrier bearings i could puke . Just ordered a new carrier bearing from quad 4x4 hopefully it will be the answer but i am not holding out much hope . Is there any way to relube these things?

Nothing like a real 5" aluminum driveline for strength and fixing vibes. As long as you are not driving where you can actually hit the 1 piece on a rock or something solid they are great.

I had the driveline rebalanced no longer any vibrations but i cant get two years out of a carrier bearing to save my life at 90$ a pop im getting tired of it

I wonder why that is? I have 331k on my '91, original bearing, I did change the cushion once. Trucks and busses with long wheel bases run several of them per drive shaft. Most of my old trucks over the years have had them, I don't recall any issues.

Think the part was about $10. Beats $90 for assy. Guess I'm lucky with mine as still original with 255k on truck? When/if I need I'll try this route 1st. I've had my whole shaft in/out at least 5 times over the years just to make it easier for other things I was doing. I read on TDR the key for removing and replacing is to mark reference points on assy and mounting areas for exact location so reinstall gets it back in same place. Otherwise you could end up with vibrations. Also read that there are a few different assemblies with slight differences than whichever one originally came on the truck, that will fit, but won't be "quite right" and could cause vibration and won't last too long. Hope this helps.

As long as the u-joints are phased correctly the DS position is infinite, it just doesn't matter at either end how they attach only at the support. The stock pillow block on these trucks is too soft in most cases. Sourcing a good HD heavier mount will reduce the failure rate, at the expense of NVH. Also, engine balance and driving style play a large part in the life expectancy. A fluid damper, better engine balance, and easiest to achieve is keeping the engine out of the torsional harmonics range will all help with dirve line life. Ot put a 1 piece DS in and drive.

My rubber is ok its the bearing that is bad

I use Spicer part # 211848-1X My change out interval for preventative maintenance is 300k miles. I replace the Spicer u-joints part # S-1410X at the same time.
