Anyone ever have One {30 day old} Valve cover Gasket seperate?

Noticed an oilspot where the "Elephant" usually sits and on inspection found #3 VC Gasket trimmed neatly in two by the valve cover. All the rest seem OK, and all were installed at the same time and torqued the same.

Of course it was Sunday Evening when all this got noticed and the Parts places that stocked VC Gaskets were closed.

Will have to go to A&I in the morning drooling oil down the side of the block to fix. Will pick up 'spares' for companywith the fuel filter.

While I've never heard of this sort of thing, it's not hard to imagine it happening. You ever seen a guy in a grocery store open a large box with a box cutter??? SLASH... .

It could even have been done ' in process '.

One of the things I did a while back was change out my RC gaskets a bit early. I kept one or two of the softer, more pliable old ones. Cleaned them up and hung onto them as emergency spares.

Works for fan belts too.

Just a thought.

Bob.
