Ok WHY would anyone want a 3/4 ton DIESEL pickup 4x4 with one wheel peel?!?!?!?!?

Plowing snow in 2wd stinks, tring to launch on a ricer STINKS, tring to pull something on wet grass stinks..... I hate 1 wheel peel!!! Heck my buddys 01 STOCK ctd 4x4, can whoop up on me while ive got my ONE friggin tire spinning away, I look like a fool!! (dont worry after I get traction Im on him!!

So now that Ive got the itch to show at local brush pulls I cant have 2 tires just along for the ride. How do I go about changing the rear end, just throw a locker in it and call it good? will I have to change the carrier?

How?

Where should I get the parts?

Thanks

Ian

A locker would be nice when you are hooked to a sled. But, snow plowing! Thats a different story. I had a locker in my old plow truck. The play in the teeth, shifting from forward to reverse, will drive you nuts. Too much driveline play. And not very forgiving when trying to turn while pushing snow.

I removed it from mine and went with a limited slip, (Powr-Lok). This was on a first gen. 1 ton dump, so there was enough weight on the rear to make it work in the snow.

Try Randy's Ring & Pinion for a Powr-Lok carrier.

John Hmmm ahh Ill keep the horspower hahah bbram brian?

Cooker I talked to Greg awhile ago about the issue at hand. Ill say something to him next time we chat

BKirk I had a 95 1500 7. 5' western pro and with my tailgate spreader plus around 500lbs of salt I didnt have any problem plowing in 2wd, now with my cummins I just spin and have to put it in 4wd. The 95 had a locker.

Greg may not be able to help with install but he may have a LSD carrier laying around. It may be for 3. 55 gears and I'm not sure if the carrier is the same for 3. 55 as it is for 4. 10.

Did you put a locker in the 95? or are you referring to what came with the truck from the factory?

I just had the Dana Power loc installed a few months back to get rid of my 2 tire peg leg. I debated between the locker and the LSD for many months. I think I read every thread here on TDR as well as other sites. The locker just had too many quirks for me. I didn't want to be reminded daily that it was back there. So far the power loc has been great. Quiet and effective.
