But I've finally installed my fuel pressure gauge (well, actually, the wiring and the senders, I've had the gauge in my cluster for a year).

Great big big thanks to Steve St. Laurent for his excellent posts about his '99 install:

And to Westach for their installation diagrams:

I went the transducer (rather than mechanical) sender route because I'm crazy. This install taxed my abilities, but appears to have made me smarter. :p It was my first time actually wiring up a switch, making something out of a piece of angle aluminum, and messing with the fuel system.

By the time I was done, I felt like I had installed two gauges. And let me tell you... running 4 wires through a mounted gauge pod is a serious PITA.

Here's my abused, I mean shaped, piece of aluminum:

And the same piece with the senders mounted:

Here they are in the truck:

(can I just say how hard it was to find 1/8" NPT to 1/8" barb fittings?!!)

And with the whole system installed:

Reading nice an clean at 15psi:

Wow. I gotta go find out what the pressure is like at WOT now... :) (and update my truck profile... )

i'm done!

Heh, actually, those got put in right away. :) I saw how they were done at a BOMBing party, so it wasn't totally new to me. I kept putting fuel off because I had no idea how to mount them and I didn't want to take my gauge pod apart to run more wires.

Actually, after the road test, I'm fairly happy with my lift pump. 14psi idle, 12-13 taking it easy on streets, and 8 sustained WOT. I can actually get it down to about 6. 5-7 if I hold WOT all the way to the top of a gear. Since that's not something I do much, I'm hoping I shouldn't be worried that the reading is below 8.

:D
