Thanks for the introduction Robin!!

It is finally true! We do have an "official" Ontario Chapter now!!Oo. After much planning and debating, we have come up The Ontario Dodge Diesel Owners as the name of the Ontario Chapter.

To give a bit of a background on myself, I have been addicted to Cummins/Dodge trucks for about 7 years now. I guess it was bound to happen having grown up in a hardcore Dodge/Mopar family. Having been raised around both Mopar Muscle cars and Dodge Trucks since I was a child, I have developed a knowledge of Chrysler product dating from the 40's to present covering everything from 50's family sedans, to the 60's Hemi race cars and full size Dodge Trucks, to the 70's land barges, the 80's front wheel drive performance cars, and even into the modern day SRT vehicles and Vipers. I guess you can say I was raised with horsepower in my blood and there is nothing I can do about it now!!:D

My first diesel was a 1989 Dodge Cummins Ram (I purchased it in 2001) and that got me hooked on diesels. After driving the 1990 for few years, I started after the “White Unicorn” of Dodge trucks - the 1st gen crew cabs! Those of you who know your 1st gens know Dodge stopped manufacturing the crew cabs in 1985 and only started building the Cummins Rams in the fall of 1988.

After searching for many months I eventually found a 1980 with a 1993 Cummins conversion. After driving that for a year the Getrag transmission finally called it quits starting a 4 year long chain reaction of events!! Not to get into a VERY long story but, being a perfectionist and a car guy is never good!! After pulling the Getrag on December 24th 2004 the “project” began and I ended up doing a complete restoration/modification of this truck. Everytime I removed something else I thought I had better fix that too, and “fixing that” usually turned into “upgrading that”! I ended up replacing the entire driveline (both axles, trans, motor), stripping the truck to the frame, media blasting the body, replacing EVERY nut and bolt, and upgrading everything I could to build the ultimate towing machine! As for the motor, I started with a stock 1997 12V and unintentionally ending up with a home built, twin turbo motor buildup. For more information on that final product, see my Trucks Profile!! As far as other trucks, I have also had some experience with a 2002 Cummins although I was not fond of the VP44. ;)

So that brings me to the present! Having been part of the TDR since 2003 I have always wanted to attend local chapter events, but one did one exist. So, while speaking with Robin one day, we decided to get this going. Lets create an Ontario Chapter!!Oo.

So how about it! Who do we have here in Ontario?? Where do you live? Please feel free to introduce yourself here so we can all get to know each other!!

Please also feel free to contact me if you have any questions!!

Oh and don't forget to mark your calendars for the last Saturday in January for our first meet to get to know each others trucks (yes, we will get to meet each other too:D)!

Robert,

Good on ya for starting a chapter in Ontario. I grew up in Woodstock and have lived in Hamilton, Mississauga, Oakville, Gananoque and Deep River in the 26 or so years that I lived in Canada. I now live in Washington State where we have the NW Bombers. Like yourself, my first CTD was an '89 and I was hooked from there, I wish I still had my '89 but I wouldn't trade it for the truck I have now :)

Anyway, I'm glad to see someone starting a chapter in Ontario and I wish I was home to help support it. Remember it's all about making friends and people helping people. Maybe one day I'll be home when you're having an event.

Thanks for the post Mike!!

I see you have lived ALL around Ontario! If you ever are back in Ontario be sure to give a shout as we will be having all sorts of events throughout the year. In the plans are everything from Dyno days to drag racing!

In the mean time, enjoy the nicer weather out there in WA!!
