How much should I have the OEM tips honed? Jay was thinking 30% but neither of us know what would be good for tons of fuel... ... .....

Just FYI i had a set of 185's honed out and I think I ruined them. They smoked black under all conditions and didnt make that good of power. I let paccool borrow them so he can try them out ans see how they work for him, but I havent heard back from him on the 185's. He did say that he liked my 370's that i had honed. :-laf

I think it is worth a try you might get the best of both worlds. Make good power with little to no smoke. I have a couple of sets of stockers and I was planning on doing this a while back, but I got side tracked.

Can your shop make them a specific size

The "experiment" would be done using a "dyna-flow" machine... . this passes an abrasive slurry thru the workpiece under pressure using hydraulic cylinders.

The abrasive is what it is (we use it to polish forming dies) ..... the variable is the number of passes.

Assuming (in theory) that the slurry would affect all holes the same amount, and will not alter the spray angle in relation to the bore, the question would be how big, or what % bigger should the goal be?

You would need to flow the nozzles to see a change. It will make the holes funnel shaped on the inside and the flow will increase despite the outer edge of the hole staying the same. If you need gauge pins to check for a before and after, I have a very small set that goes from . 005 to . 012 in . 0005 increments and from . 012 to . 060 in . 001 increments. I'd be happy to loan you either or both sets.
