If you want a Fantastic Captain's Bed

I Often Wonder . . . . .

I have Netflix, been a member for a over a year now. The only problem I have is the new releases are always a long wait for me, but the movie turn around is awesome for everything else.

We've been members for a little over a year now (3 DVD's at a time). They will throttle you if you try to watch "too many" DVD's in a month. They will claim that your DVD is not available from the closest distribution center, and then send it from all the way across the country, resulting in another 2-3 days for shipping. As long as you only want to watch 1-2 DVD's per week things ship quickly.

Many of the older DVD's are scratched and some have been cracked. Watching the badly scratched ones will depend on how good your DVD player is. Getting the new releases has been hit & miss. Sometimes we get them right away, other times it takes weeks.

It hasn't been a terrible experience, but I think we're going to cancel later this year.

I considered getting a netflix account for the same reason (bluray). I read of many people though that are having difficulty getting bluray discs from them - always a long wait (sometimes many months for a specific title), etc. What I've done instead is upgraded my Dish Network service to HD and their HD DVR's now support external USB hard drives ($40 to activate) and I attached a 750GB external USB HD to my DVR which looks like it will record about 230 hours on it. Every few days I look through the HD movies channels that I have (HBO, Cinemax, and HD movie theater) and record any movies that I might be interested in. The guide goes out a week so as long as I do it within 7 days of the last time I did it I don't lose anything. I got the HD service the beginning of December and right now I have 43 High Def movies sitting on my external HD that I can watch at any time. They aren't quite as high quality as bluray but pretty darn close.

Hi All,

I too have had Netflix for a couple of years. No problems on my end, however I am big into Asian movies so no issues about delays. I too took the Blu Ray plunge so as more are released I will be able to take advantage of High Def.

Me and the wife have had Netflix for about a year, and haven't had any issues at all. We have the unlimited movies a month with 2 at a time... . I watch them almost as fast as they can send them. Never had to wait for one. We did get one that was cracked once, but we sent it back and watched the other one we had and the replacement for the cracked one was there by the end of the week. I think our package is about 10 bucks a month and I know we go through about 10-15 a month... .
