Do Injectors wear out?????

2nd Gen (98-02) Smarty features wants/wishes

Anybody have one on a 3rd gen, pros/cons.

Brady at II believes my slow spool with my Silver62 is due to my AFE stage 1 intake w/proguard 7 filter, I tend to agree...

I guess I should have included "air intake", did not know there was a fueling box out with the same name.

Now, anybody have any experience with the AEM WORKHORSE AIR INTAKE SYSTEM?

Come on, someone here must have some info!

I don't have any experience with that one (sorry). I am however interested in hearing some opinions of it. The AFE has been so popular among the TDR crowd for so long I haven't heard much if anything about any others.

I have however heard some good things about the icebox manufacturing Icebox Manufacturing... again that's HEARD... not factual, as I have no experience.

I suppose you could maybe add a torque tube and see if that helps.

I'm prolly not a lot of help here... sorry for that.

Why don't you just change to a different air filter like an amsoil AE nanofiber filter and keep the stage one kit.

With my silver62 on a 24v I found that the stage 1 with the AFE dry filter performs the best. Have you removed the intake and took for a quick test drive to verify that that is what is causing it. And are you pulling the restriction gauge up on it. Before going to the stage 1 dry I could peg the restriction gauge with the 2 other intakes I tried Now It doesn't even start to move it.

My silver62 only spools under hard loads after 1800 rpms. It likes 2000 rpm's and higher and it likes a lot of fuel. I am thinking sending it in and down sizing to the sps62 due to not competing with the rig as much now and needing it to perform better as a tow rig.

This turbo is more suited to competition rather that towing. It does tow good above 2000rpms with a lot of fuel. It would be a better turbo for the manual transmission and lower gears.

I see he already has the Cool Blue Hose which performs the best according to dyno tests among the several torque tubes tested.

Yes, I did remove my air filter yesterday afternoon, with an empty truck, not pulling anything, it was hard to tell any difference. Except more noise, and I did not pull my filter minder down, so that proves the proguard 7 is somewhat restrictive.

The problem is finding another filter to fit it the stage 1 air box, AFE would not confirm that their dry element replacement would flow that much better!

I was hoping that a member who has one, would speak up, several folks on the 'Cummins Forum' have the AEM Workhorse, I was looking for more... encouragement?

I have one on a Second Generation, but we've sold lots to 3rd gen customers. Personally, I like it better than the AFE. I ran an AFE on my truck for a long time. The Workhorse is a bigger filter, so I've got think that it's letting more air through. It filters very well. I live in a dusty environment and each time I've gone to clean it, the intake tube is spotless.

I guess I should say what I like about the AEM. It's EASY TO SERVICE. No more oiling. I tap it against the tire a few times and most of the dust comes out. If I really want to clean it, just stick it in a bucket of water and slosh it around. Set it in the sun to dry. Easy.
