Hi,

I'm a new owner of an '04 CTD but not to diesels. I just sold my cherried '91

F350 Crew 4x4 Banks Turbo etc. I've been STUDYING these forums for some time and am pretty dialed into to the pros and cons of the truck I bought.

Let me describe my '04 and what I've done before I pose the questions. It's an '04 3500 SRW long bed, 6 speed, 3:73's, BD exhaust brake, Edge EZ, Firestone Air bags. Had 27,000 miles when I purchased it! I've put on a 2" correction in front with a fresh alignment (bringing it back in to Les Schwab as it still pulls a little to the right). Installed EGT and Boost gauge above rear view mirror. Installed Air Dog pump on frame and replaced stock filter with 2 mic.

Questions: The truck is close to 5 years old but low mileage. Should I replace all fluids; coolant, rear and front axle, transmission and transfer.

I'm planning on keeping the stock air box but am looking at replacing the Torque Tube. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. I'm looking forward to putting on the camper and hooking up my 16' flatbed with my '73 FJ40 and cruising to Moab the end of April. I know it will be a different animal than my old '91 Ford.

First... Welcome, and congrats on the truck!

Based on the previous mods, the past owner knew what he was doing.

Based on your mods, you do as well.

I like to replace all fluids on any vehicle I buy used, I was gonna say that I don't know if I'd bother with that low of mileage, BUT, if it's the OG "break-in" fluids, I'd get it out and replace it.

The diff's are super easy on the 3rd gen trucks... reuseable rubber gasket, no new one or sealant needed.

Love the old Landcruisers btw, one of the coolest "Jeeps" ever made imho.

Welcome to wonderful world of Mopars that rattle!!! Just my two cents here but I change my diffs and transfer case fluid every 15,000 miles. As for the intake tract, I have a Cool Blue Tube (PSM) and PSM Cold Air Intake with an AFE filter and ATS Intake. I would big time add that Pete at PSM is excellent to deal with and his products are of excellent quality. He also is realistic about the gains you'll get from his products. Not just inflated numbers.

R.I.P. the Rattlers.

The Rattlers died a natural death in '02. These new ones purr. I know, I owned one. Everyone thought UPS was coming when I drove the old '99 down our street. :)
