I am making an important decision here.

I want running boards for my 2003 black Sport dually mainly as bodyside protection. I had hoped to find black boards but the extruded aluminum boards that are powder coated don't have a durable finish. I don't like the molded fibre glass as I don't like the over the wheel trim.

Someone suggested the polished stainless steel was the way to go and would look good on the the truck expecially with the chrome wheel liners. So I have narrowed my stainless choices to Putco Master Boss and J&J Enterprises Millennium boards. They both look good (at least in the pictures) and while pricey they cost about the same. Does anyone have any comments on these boards in terms of overall quality, strength of installation and brackets, the amount of drilling and resistance to corrosion. Our southern Ontario winters are tough on metal. Also are they really useful as a step up? My wifes mother is elderly and occasionally travels with us. Any comments would really be appreciated as I need to make a decision soon. Cheers

I have the Dodge Luverne's on mine and like them. But if you're still interested in Black then get them coated; I just had the truck bed Line-X'd and this stuff would be awesome on nerf bars. I saw a grill guard they Line-X'd and that looked great too. If I put anything black on the truck I'm pretty sure I'd have it done with Line-X.

I'd be posting pictures but it's been raining the last four days and not supposed to stop until Saturday.

i cant help you on which one to get, but i can tell you that steps are a big help for people who dont usually get in and out of big trucks... my wife made ne buy some the day after we got the truck

Putco ALL The Way!

I have the Master Boss Boards. Beautiful but expensive. Quality is very evident and finish is beautiful. If you go Putco, get the entire set: front, box, and tail. I'd include a photo but am away from home. They're really nice boards!

Not sure if they are made for a 3rd Gen Dodge... but J&J Enterprises produces what they call tuff tubes.

I have a digital picture of what they would look like... unfortunately they are mounted on a Chevy. BUT my BIL recently bought em for his Dodge, and I can tell you they look great.

IMO, these are the way to go... cause its like having the best of both worlds. Tubes look FAR better than running boards, but running boards provide great protection from stones and provide great footing/step area. And yes polished tubes compliment the rims on a duelly quite nicely.

FWIW: J&J's prices are somewhat negotiable. MY BIL paid less than the advertised price.

My present truck a, 01 SLT PLUS Ouad, has the factory molded steps with the extended skirts, all painted silver to match the truck. I like this factory kit very much, But here lies my problem???

I'm waiting for my black Laramie, dually standard cab to arrive. I want a nice factory looking set of boards that will run to the rear wells. I like the looks of the factory 03 steps on the 4 door 1/2 tons, does dodge offer a clean set similar to those to fit the dually?? Any wed sites you my recommend?? Also a good quality set of flaps to hang of the back... ..... THANKS GUYS
