Wet Line Kit

It was suggested to me that I try a fuel additive called TriPak, for improved fuel economy. The major component in the material according to the MSDS is isopropal alcohol, that alone said "stay away" but the amount was 10-30%, that even makes me more nervous. The amount used is 1oz. per 5 galllons - -when I talked to the rep, he told me the alcohol grabs the water and takes it to the bottom (should have been there any way). The way I see it, the bottom pickup in the fuel tank, will grab this alcohol/water mix and carry it through the water separator into the injection system - - and there the problem begins to cause problems. Am I correct in this or am I all wet? (No pun intended.

Guys - - I am interested in YOUR opinion

Well in theory diesel fuel does absorb water, so the claim of "grabbing" water molecules out of the diesel fuel could hold some merit. But I'm with you on the part about pulling a slug of water through all the way to the injection pump where damage would almost be guaranteed. With enough water I doubt the WIF light will come on in time to shut down before any damage is done. A little water colloid in your diesel fuel may not be the worst thing in the world.

Denny,

The folks that buy those products and dump them in their Dodge Ram fuel tanks are descendents of the folks who bought bottles of magic snake oil from shysters hawking them off the back of a horse drawn wagon in 1800s America.

The same folks probably buy the magic supplements advertised on television to make them young again, cure dreaded diseases, and make hair grow on their bald heads.

Do you remember the rock and roll hit song back in the late '50s or early '60s, "Love Potion # 9?" Similar stuff.

The three Cummins engines I have owned have ran fine for hundreds of thousands of miles burning nothing but truck stop diesel fuel. I've never had an injector or injector pump failure. I don't see the need for magic potions.
