Florida truck in Ct. Used by an retired couple to tow a 5th wheel to and from Florida. Husband died last year and a local tire dealer (and friend) is selling it for the widow.

They are asking $8500 (says she will only lower her price a little). KBB says $5945 private party, $7440 dealer price.

1993 ext cab 2 wd auto. 141K miles. Brake controller, tow pkg, no rust, looks like a 16 cm housing, running boards w/light, A/C, power windows, locks, cruise, tilt, combo fueltank and tool box in bed, hyd crane bolted to rear corner (to lift hitch in place I presume). Always garaged when not in use. Looks clean in and out.

Oh... felt good to sit in too.

Opinions? What would you offer?

EDIT... was told the brakes were "recently redone", and it looked like it needs rear and front springs (so shocks too).

Thanks.

Jay

My opinion: someone will pay it. It wouldn't be worth it to me, but they will sell for that. NONE of the valuation sights are of much value in my opinion for older vehicles because people will pay much more for the CTD trucks.

I bought my 90, in 1994, from a retired couple. He had gotten a couple of tickets for hauling the grandkids around in the bed. Said he needed an extended cab and was looking at a 2nd Gen.

It had 103k and was like new. He asked $9k and I didn't even argue. It drove like a dream until the rear end laeked oil and then blew apart at 304k miles.

Anything for sale is worth what the buyer thinks it's worth.

Disagree

Something is only worth, what someone else is willing to give for it... that is if you want to sell it. OTOH if you don't want to sell it, then it is worth what you think. :D

I'm telling you, 1st gen fetish all around!!! So looking for another toy Jay? You know as good as us what the going rate is on them. Also you should always sell your vehicle while it's still running.

I don't know if this helps but I bought my 92 from a member here back in december of 02 for $7500. It is a very clean D250 Club cab w/keldermann rear bags, transfer flow tank where spare used to sit,16cm housing,NV4500 conv, relocated fuel filter, fairly fresh rubber, cap, and more. It had 178K on it at the time I think, and I feel it was well worth the price. I bought it from a gentleman in his 70's out in MI,and was very happy with my purchase. The truck isn't as clean as it was when I bought it(due to no garage),but I think it is still worth a fair amount of money. I would go for it if I were you these truck are rare in our parts, and worth it I think.

I paid $8500 for mine at the beginning of last year. Granted it had 85K on it and it's a W. I'd have liked to pay less, but you don't know how hard it is to find a standard cab W250 around here with a stick! I'd offer her the $7500 and see if she takes it.

Hey, Jay!

If it's got the under-the-bed trans cooler, you can figure the auto hasn't been hurt too badly. Go $7k and see what happens. I paid $11k for my 92 (you remember it) in 2000 and it's still great. Plan on upgrading the auto's TC.

Jay,

By the time your done thinking this over, the truck will be in someone elses garage. Just do it. One for winter and one for summer.

Jay hasn't responded for awhile, he must be out back digging up all his money :D . You all know he is the wealthiest 1st genner :-laf .

Bill, not as a boat owner

If it's still there this week, maybe I'll make a lowball. While it would be nice to have a fully loaded clean truck, the one I drive runs great right now and I really like it.

And I cannot keep two.

I also know that the 93 will need transmission upgrades, and suspension work.

I'll let you guys know what happens.

Jay

On the lower end of pricing, there is a 92 D350 srw on Ebay that is closing today. It is a real hammered dog and it is already at 1525 dollars. No bed, interior dogged out and no TPS which tells something about the condition of the ECM and transmission. Probably a zillion miles.

I have found better deals than that locally. There are some areas where these truck bring a lot more.

Jay,

I don't think it would be out of line to pay $7500-8000 for a really clean low mile truck.

I suppose another way to look at the price is think of what you would sell your present truck for. I wouldn't let my truck go for $8000 :) and I'm sure there are a few others that feel that way.

I gave $ 6000 and my 88 Ford 1/2 ton for my 93 D-350 in November with 118,000 on the clock. I've done right much work on mine since I bought it, with more to come. They had asked $ 8500 for it until I worked the trade. An elderly couple had owned mine and used it for hauling produce for their market.

that price is a bit on the high side compared to what you can buy down here... but all our trucks our rust free so maybe thats why the market is higher in the Northeast (for rust-free trucks).

I have well over $15,000 invested in mine, not to mention the labor (which I'm told is worth nothing) :-{} I'd hate to know the exact figure I have spent.

If I was to advertise it, I'd have to ask at least 15,000. 00 for it and it's nearly 200,000 miles now. Would be easier to simply paint it a differnt color if I was to want a different truck.

GL

Heck Scott, that would add another $3000-$4000 to the money you spent!

I'm in the process of spending another 5K and that doesn't include twins! . I don't even want to know how much I have put into the old truck. :) I know there are some guys that have dumped a lot more than me, you sound like one of them! Stomp is another.

Love my 2 1st gens both W's 1 reg stripped stick 1 ex-cab loaded

I do have a 2ond gen 4x4 ex-cab dually I offer when they want to buy 1 of my 1 st gens. They all bring a premium price but the 1st gen are harder to find and more reliable but less fancy and powerful unless you play with them.

That pretty much sums it all up. More reliable and harder to find but less powerfull unless your a diesel tuner :) :)

I like it!!

Jay, the congregation has voted: 9 out of 10 say you should buy it. The 9th guy was stopped by the local (cop) for smoking an intersection and thus did not vote. :) :)
