Nomad Trailer By Skyline Any Good?

Have been thinking of doing away with the Cabover and try a 5th wheel but would still like to be able to take my quad. Have looked at a number of toy haulers but the half way nice ones are out of my price range.

Ran across a Keystone Outback 30'. They walled off the back four or five foot and put in a side mounted ramp. It's the perfect size for what I need and can probably pick it up for in the low to mid 20's.

I have no Knowledge of 5th wheels and was wondering how the Keystone brand rates.

The price of a travel trailer is, like with most products, a good but not completely accurate indication of quality. Another way of saying the same thing is "you get what you pay for. " Keystone builds a lot of entry level and lower end units at various price points.

It is not clear in your post but I think what you meant is that the unit you are considering was modified to permit loading some type of offroad vehicle in the rear. If the frame was not designed to support additional weight at the rear it could sag, buckle sidewalls, separate at various points, etc. If a portion of a sidewall was cut away and an entry was added I'd almost guarantee that problems will result.

You didn't say what year the unit is but I doubt that a new Keystone Outback 30' had an invoice price much higher than "the low to mid-20's" when initially sold to a dealer.

My advice is always the same. You can read it here in other old threads: Determine what your budget will allow. If your RV budget will allow purchase of a new RV of the highest quality you are a very successful guy. If not, buy the newest version of a clean, well-maintained quality unit manufactured by one of the old successful manufacturers that you can afford. It will continue to give good service for many years to come.

Many of the cheaper brands disappoint their owners.

It's your money, your choice.

I just bought an 06 Challanger 5th wheel for 10,000 off what the orgional purchaser had paid for it... he'd used it 4 times and its brand new... . I almost flipped when he took my offer.....

Keystone has the same floor plan in usually 3 of their brands... . the floor plan is the same but the windows, and insulation package and cabinets are what I found to be the main difference... . I looked at the everest in the same plan but the dealer that had it wouldn't move... the challanger didn't have a few of bells etc but it was 13,000 less than the dealer wanted for the everest..... I'm pleased with the construction and the price... . Of course you need to make your own decision...

custom ordered a 07 Keystone Montana 3400RL based on lots of comparison, has been great, just got back from 5000 mi. trip and all is good! know others with keystone products and no problems.

My opinion on Keystone after having my Laredo for two years now is that they are high on features for the price, but a little below middle of the road for quality. Mine is still holding up, but I'm having little cheap build quality issues show up - can't get power cord to pull more than a couple feet out due to excessively long fasteners protruding through underbelly, shower hose needs replacing, EVERY time we tow we have to vacuum sawdust off the bed, cabinet doors dont fit quite right, seems to be some weak electrical connections as some outlets dont always work, had to go through and fill ALL the trim nail holes. I'm sure there are more.
