Strong Fifth Wheel to tow doubles

ford commercial

I'm collecting opinions and advice on the Renegade Magnum Coupler or similar hitch couplers. Pros and Cons will help me so please don't fight amoungst yourselves... unless you want to.

Duluth Diesel gave me some great info based on his experience and also cited the great expertise in this forum. THANKS.

I do not own a fifth wheel now but really like the idea of keeping the bed clear. The idea of the magnum coupler sounds great and given peoples experience with the diamond hitch, I'm inclined to rely on their products. Are there any trailers out there that specifically allow for the use of a coupler?

TIA,

John

If you'll do a search on "gooseneck adapter" here and on iRV2.com, you'll find a lot of reading. The problem with gooseneck adapters is that they add a substantial moment (lever) arm to the 5th wheel pin box. 5th wheel trailer frames are not designed for the same torques as gooseneck trailers - witness the size of the structural steel and gusseting used in the neck area of a gooseneck - and pin box/frame failures have occurred on 5th wheels that used gooseneck adapters.

If you want to pull a 5th wheel, a gooseneck and still have a clean bed floor when not towing, I'd suggest looking at the B&W turnoverball gooseneck with companion 5th wheel RV hitch HERE.

Rusty---thanks for the links and suggestions...

Anyone know why the turnoverball link has been dead for so long?
