Still tossing the idea around about getting the TST Powemax for my truck. I've been pulling a 10K+ trailer and it works the truck pretty hard. I'm only about 50 mins from TST and could just stop and get one... but I'm trying to be good and not spend the money.

Just wondered how everyone like theirs?

thanks,

Dave

In my opion it's junk :( Every time I get on it, another code pop's up. It's really not worth the money. Wait until the Edge come's out or the Downloader.

A lot has to do with your driving style. I had 41k miles on my 03 and had the opportunity to add the TST unit. Realistically I was able to benefit up to settings 3/3 without much concern other than EGT on a long hill (stock exhaust). Beyond that, the stock clutch wasn't able to effectively handle the extra power without slipping under a hard pull.

I have since added a southbend 1947 con fe clutch which has totally improved the truck with the TST box. I will definitely need an exhaust the reduces EGT.

If you want the extra balls to the wall HP, get the TST but plan on an exhaust and a clutch. Want a little extra HP, while wasting the upper settings get the TST.

BTW, I really like the improved fuel mileage (calculated not display) :D

Opinions on the TST Powermax CR.

I've got a pretty light foot. I'm still used to my 1994 2500 4x4, which gave me more low end grunt. My '04 doesn't seem to have that. My old truck (dynoed at 275hp/677tq) was an auto and when the convertor locked up, you could absolutly just haul ___! :-laf I've got to run in 4th and 5th just to pull the hills around here. I'm trying to teach myself to run at little higher RPMs than I used too.

Clutch, exhaust, and air intake are all upgrades in the future, but not till the stock ones are worn out.

I like TST because they are close to home, I loved their kit on my 1994, I love all the settings (most I won't use though), and I can grow into it. However, the codes are little concerning. They said they would charge me about $75 to install it too.

Haven't seen when the new edge is coming out though.

I still love my new Dodge though :)

Thanks,

Dave

The only time I got a code was when I changed the power while driving. They will go away after so many start ups. I tow on 3/3 and the torque is there. You will need a clutch up grade and other mods to get full use from this box. There is quite a differance in stock and level 3/3 while towing.

The Powermax CR is the most powerful and most adjustable fueling box on the market for the third gens. The capabilities are huge but only if you choose to use those high settings. It's also a great mild box on settings 1, 2, and 3. If you respect it you'll like it, and you won't be doing much complaining about that extra 1-2 mpg the timing advance gives you either ;)

kwikspool.

try moving your ground wire to inside the cab to the skeleton of the dash, this has worked for many other people to get rid of codes.

as for my opinion on the box..... :D :D

johndeereg-what mpg improvement? any would help, thanks

I contibute my mileage due to how I drive. I am a 2K rpm or less shifter and I try to maintain around 2K rpm cruising rpm. With driving around town I average high 19-20 and highway 21-22. The other thing I don't use a lot is my cruise. I guess I know my truck well enough to know what is going on with rpm/boost. I spend a lot of time about above 10 psi of boost and my mileage drops when on the highway. If I fade from 70mph to 65mph on a hill without pushing the pedal my mileage remains constant.

Of course when I installed the new clutch and TST, the pedal seemed to be on the floor a lot and my mileage was on the floor also.

Happy driving

I love it. The power gains are incredible. I can see were you need gauges or you'll break something. My MPG has gone down because I can't keep my foot out of it. Lifes to short to worry about gas mileage Awesome mod!!!

How does it compare to the PUP?

Well YoHoot, a couple of us got together today at Kauffman's for some dyno testing. We tried 2 downloaders on two trucks. I posted earlier in one of the threads that the results were interesting. I will let rams-n-hogs give you all the news tonight , if he's up to it. :D As for comparing the numbers of the pup to the TST, the numbers will tell the facts.

i love mine.

only time i get codes are if i lug down under 800 rpm when starting out, or let it pull down under 1200 rpm in gear and then try to accelerate. otherwise no problems. still have not had it past 5/5. it lights tires on clean asphalt as it is. overall mileage is at 20. 2. better in the city!!!!. at 70 mileage drops to about 19. 5

best bang for the buck IMHO.

Lloyd,

You've got to stop doing this to me. :-laf :-laf This is the third thread I'm answering. How many more is there? :DCheck the other two for my response.

Jim

Don't worry Jim, I am done beating on the BD DL for the night. :D I am just glad they found something wrong with it. They outta pay for your runs on the dyno. :D

In all honesty , how many people do you think bought one of these that will never find out they have a bum program? :(

Thanks for leaving me alone for the night to sulk. :-laf :-laf I don't expect them to pay for my runs, although it would be nice. My SOP meter kind of told me the box wasn't right. The dyno just confirmed it. Like I said, we'll see if it improves in a couple of weeks. SOP meter only this time. If I'm still not impressed, I'll send it back. I don't expect we'll ever know how many got a bad box, but I'm sure if someone thinks their box is bad, it'll get fixed.

Jim

I'll throw my . 02 in here also. The new box I had a couple of weeks ago had the single miss problem and no codes. I sent it back and just happened to pick up AK RAMS box after he had it reprogrammed. This box throws no codes (and I've tried) and with the B-1 I can run wot on 6x5 and stay cool. This thing flat out HAULS now and when I throw the pressure in the mix also it's unreal! Some trucks seem to be code and problem free and some aren't. They still have a 30 day money back. Give it a try and see what you think.

I haven't had a code on mine yet it is the new version. I put a dyno sheet on the power pup thread. I watch my boost real close and don't go over 10 lbs driving around and no racing with it on level 3,3 i have got 18 mpg out of the last couple tanks. Boost builds fast so i think that is why i wasn't getting the mileage i expected when i first got the truck. I'm still gonna get the reflash for better mileage next week. The box does build EGT's real quick even with open exhaust and intake. You won't be disappointed. I put a EZ on my truck for a week and this box blows that one away.
